My passion for agriculture is rooted in my experiences growing up on my family farm in Kansas. As the On-Farm Research Program Coordinator, I am able to continue this passion by collaborating with Nebraska producers and Extension educators to address critical challenges in production agriculture. I love being able to help producers answer their questions by doing On-Farm Research on their own operations.

I'm a 2025 UNL graduate with a love for the outdoors, Husker sports, and all things social and creative. I grew up traveling and moving around the world, but I have a love for Nebraska and its agriculture industry. I enjoy working with producers and Extension educators across the state to showcase the work of the Nebraska On-Farm Research Network and share the projects and research we're working on to help shape the future of Nebraska agriculture. mbackes3@unl.edu
