UAVs have been becoming more popular in agriculture in recent years, though largely as  exciting new tools that offer a bird's eye view of fields rather than as information and value providers.  One of the first tasks where UAVs might deliver the most value is in delivering stand counts. Todd Colten, Director of Flight Services at Sentera, sits down for a conversation with us on this episode of the FarmBits podcast. Sentera is an analytics, UAV, and sensor-tech company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. In this episode, Todd discusses how Sentera is driving value for farmers by providing high-resolution stand counts, amongst other useful high-potential features, in their FieldAgent platform. This episode features interesting technical discussion regarding the algorithms and technology necessary to perform accurate stand counts as well as practical discussion about how this technology makes an impact at the farm level. Stand counts are a critical step of validating planting operations and really help to quantify the quality of planting on a particular field. Therefore, this stand count discussion is the perfect conclusion to the planting technologies series here on the FarmBits podcast.
